Beautiful, hand-woven straw: Panama hats are hand woven in Ecuador. This quality straw is increasingly rare and expensive.
Once I have the hat base, I block(shape) it using steam and wooden hat blocks or molds. Once it is dry I insert, by hand, the head-size band which keeps the hat from stretching. This hat has a plastic support around the brim which is then covered with white grosgrain ribbon. All of this is done by hand as well.
Finally the trim is applied. Trim is silk/organza rose,baby's breath and nylon veiling.
Brim on this hat is 4" from the base of the crown to the edge of the brim.
Head size is 23". It will be slightly large on a head that measures 22.5" but I reduce it - no cost for this service.
Shipping fees are often less when I ship via FedEX. If you pay for Priority Mail via USPS and I find it cheaper to use FedEX, I will use it and refund the difference.
